Recycled Water

The City of Ukiah in California produces approximately 1,000-acre feet of recycled water annually.  The City’s recycled water meets “Title 22” standards and is used for irrigation of agriculture, parks, and schools as well as, industrial purposes such as dust control.

The City’s recycled water system was designed to be built in four phases.  Phases 1-3 were built in 2019.  Phases 1-3 serves approximately 700 acres of ag, Oak Manor school, Riverfront Park, and the Sports Complex.  Phase 4 will start construction in 2023.  Phase 4 will increase recycled water production to 1500-acre feet per year.  Phase 4 will serve large turf areas on the west side of Ukiah including the golf course, Todd Grove, Anton Stadium, Giorno Field, Pomalita school, the cemetery, Frank Zeke School, and Vinewood Park.

The total project cost (Phases 1-4) is estimated at $88 million. The project will provide numerous benefits, such as meeting State water conservation objectives, reducing diversions from the Russian River, improving fish habitat, and promoting a vibrant agricultural region.

Recycled Water Phase 4 is currently under construction.
