We’ve started the “walk audit” for the School Street project—great turnout! There’s still time to join us for the community forum, which starts at 5:30 at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center.Image attachment

Help Shape the Future of School Street!

School Street is one of the most cherished places in our community—and we’re working hard to keep it that way 🌿

Because there’s been some misinformation circulating, we want to be very clear: The City is NOT planning to remove all the trees on School Street. In fact, the current trees—the Chinese Pistache—are required by the downtown zoning code and are part of what makes the corridor special.

Some of these trees are aging and impacting the sidewalks, buildings, and utilities, and we want to plan responsibly for the future. This means creating a vision for how to preserve tree canopy, improve walkability, support local businesses, and design wider, healthier spaces for new trees when the time eventually comes.

That’s what this Thursday’s community workshop is all about. No decisions have been made—we’re asking for your input now, before any plan is drafted.

Date: Thursday, Dec. 11
Time: 5:30–7:00 PM
Place: Ukiah Valley Conference Center, 200 South School Street;
Virtual option available (link on project webpage)
Optional: Walking Audit: 3:45–5:00 PM

If you care about School Street’s future, we hope you’ll join us. Bring your curiosity, your ideas, and your love for downtown! More info here: https://ghd.mysocialpinpoint.com/school-street-corridor-study/home/
