Mendocino County has been my home for 31 years. It’s where I raised my two sons, built a small business, and established a nourishing community life. I have worked directly for positive change in Ukiah as a council member and mayor for more than 15 years. Throughout my service, my focus has always been on shaping a vital, resilient, and sustainable community supportive of Ukiah’s flourishing. I have been involved in the preservation of agricultural land, open space, and our regional water supply. I’m also deeply involved in long-term planning issues and serve on Mendocino County’s Local Agency Formation Commission. And I am the City’s representative to the Russian River Watershed Association, a coalition of cities and counties in the Russian River watershed that coordinates regional programs for clean water, fisheries restoration, and watershed enhancement.
In my professional capacity as a grant writer, I have contributed to the creation and expansion of many local programs related to public health, substance abuse treatment and prevention, domestic violence, school-based violence prevention and after school programs, the therapeutic courts, mental health services, housing and supportive services for the homeless, and domestic violence.
I have excellent interpersonal skills and very much enjoy working as a member of a team toward an exciting and ambitious vision. I am a creative thinker and planner. And I am drawn toward pursuits that are socially relevant and intellectually stimulating. A deep sense of commitment to community underlies all of my endeavors.
