Business Liaison Program

City of Ukiah Civic CenterThe City of Ukiah believes that small businesses are the foundation for economic vitality in our community. We at City Hall want to be partners with you in the success of your business. The City Council recently launched the development of the Business Liaison Program (BLP). This program was created to underscore the importance we place on businesses in Ukiah. It it our goal to maintain an aesthetically pleasing and vibrant business climate. We can accomplish this goal by enhancing landscaping, promoting community events, and most importantly listening to you, the business owner. The best way to listen to your concerns regarding City Hall, is to open clear communication links between us. We feel you should be able to deal with one person, one friend at City Hall. After all, you are very important to us. If you have any questions about City policies regarding business or have a business development question, please contact:

Business Assistance Program

NEW! July 1, 2021 – Business Assistance Forgivable Loans Available

The City of Ukiah has established a business assistance revolving loan fund. The purpose of the revolving loan fund is to provide flexible low interest loans to small and medium sized businesses in the City of Ukiah to offset the negative impacts of the COVID-19 Shelter In Place (SIP) order and to assist these businesses with financial recovery and expansion.

The City is offering loans at a very low interest rate to businesses that will create jobs, for businesses that retain jobs, and in some cases, a portion of the loan principal can be forgiven after a period of time, provided the jobs have been retained during that period. Also, in some cases, loan payments may be deferred for a period of time based on a month-by-month annual financial forecast of debt service capacity.

The Business Loan Program is funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

Small Businesses

small-businessThe City of Ukiah feels it is very important to create a positive environment for small businesses in the town. These businesses provide a rich and diverse experience, and create a unique atmosphere that is essential to the fabric and preservation of our “Small Town” community. In fact preservation of the distinct character of our Business District can form the City’s definition of its uniqueness and a sense of place for our families, friends and tourists alike. We want to do everything possible to make Ukiah vibrant, enjoyable and fun!

Business Partnerships

business-partnershipThe City of Ukiah has formed strong partnerships with the Greater Ukiah Business and Tourism Alliance to achieve many goals under our economic development umbrellas. The City Council feels, together, we can do much to enhance the business and economic strength of our community. With the Greater Ukiah Business and Tourism Alliance, we have sponsored activities that promote business activity. These events have included: Comedy Alley, Cinco De Mayo Festival, Sundays in the Park Series, and the Ukiah Pumpkinfest, just to name a few memorable programs. In the future we hope to increase shopping in the core district during the holidays with our “Avenue of Lights” display. In the coming year, the City of Ukiah will be planting over 500 trees along the length of State Street to enhance the “business look” of the area. With your input and direction, we are confident together, we can make the Business Liaison Program work for everyone!
